Obituary

Ali Anwar, a retired professor of English department at Rajshahi University, died of liver and kidney diseases at a New York hospital in the US Monday, aged 79.
He left behind his wife, two sons and two daughters, says a RU press release.
His body will arrive in Dhaka Friday and will be buried at Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard at Mirpur, family sources said.
Another press release says, Prof Anwar, a noted litterateur and translator, got Bangla Academy award in 2006 for his literary work.
He translated the plays of different dramatists, including Euripides and Harold Pinter.
