Radio Shadhin 92.4 FM was launched yesterday at Asiatic Centre in Dhaka. The official transmission of the station, the youngest member of the Asiatic Group, was formally launched by Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu.
About the station, Radio Shadhin's Managing Director, Sara Zaker said, “This radio will echo the voices of the thinking youths; we have a few energetic young individuals at the helm of this station. Apart from celebrating the small joys of our daily life, Radio Shadhin will always bring something new to the audience.”
In his speech, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said, “Mass media has always been a mirror of the society; it is the duty of media to reflect the views and demands of the people. FM Radio has become an indispensable part of city life, as city dwellers lean towards this new media for entertainment as well as information.” He expressed hopes that Radio Shadhin will bring forth the spirit of liberation and will remain sincere and unbiased in carrying out its responsibilities towards the people and democracy.
Radio Shadhin, which started test transmission on September 19, 2012, began its formal journey with the national anthem. This station aims to bring something new and innovative to the audience, and reach out further in line with their motto “Rise Up!”
Chairman of Asiatic 3 sixty, Aly Zaker said, “The yearning for freedom is what has made this nation forge ahead, and it is the spirit of freedom that Radio Shadhin will uphold.”
About the vision of the Radio, station in-charge Sriya Sharbojoya and Mir Fazle Rabby said, “This station will represent the vibrant young and highlight positive development. It will be an interactive radio; it will reach the audiences and spread their ideas.”
Directors of Radio Shadhin, Asaduzzaman Noor (MP) and Iresh Zaker, and Executive Director Neville Ferdous Hasan were also present at the launch ceremony.
