Professor Shaheda Obaed, wife of BNP leader KM Obaidur Rahman, in a statement yesterday said their only daughter was not allowed to visit her father, now detained at the prison cell of PG hospital, before her departure for the United States.

She said their daughter Shama Islam and her husband Shovon Islam who work in California wanted to visit Obaidur Rahman before their return to their work on January 25 on humanitarian ground as they were not certain how long it would take for their next visit.

But the prison authorities declined to entertain their plea, Mrs Obaed said.

Earlier on Eid day, the family members of Obaidur Rahman were allowed to visit him on a court order.
