Young filmmaker Murad Parvez's "Chandragrahan" received the best film award at the Rainbow Film Festival held in London. "Chandragrahan" was one of the six films produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd that were screened at the festival. Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's "Emon Deshti Kothao Khujey Pabey Nako Tumi" (another Impress Telefilm production), won the special mention award.
"Chandragrahan" is Parvez's debut film, which features Riaz, Sohana Saba, Champa and Shahiduzzaman Selim in the central roles. An adaptation of a literary work, "Ranighater Brittanto," by Syed Mustafa Siraj, the film highlights life at a 'kheya ghat' (river bank).
Farooki's much acclaimed film features Shuhel Khan, Munira Mithu, Musafir Syed and Raha in the lead roles.
The Rainbow Film Festival began on July 5 with the screening of Humayun Ahmed's "Amar Achhey Jol" and ended on July 12. Apart from Bangladesh, films from Iran, Malaysia, Turkey, India and United Kingdom were screened at the festival.
