Detective Branch (DB) police Saturday night arrested the president of the district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Ashraful Islam Pintu, here on charge of various crimes and terrorist activities, police said.
Jhenidah Police Station officer-in-charge Kazi Wajed Ali confirmed the incident saying the criminal was sent to jail after producing before a court here.
Earlier, he gave a confessional statement at court. Accordingly, DB police raided a betel leaf plantation at Mukimpur village in Harinakundu upazila and recovered an LG (gun), bullets and a hand bomb from there.
Pintu is an accused in several criminal cases, police further said.
