An arrest warrant has been issued for nine BNP leaders and activists, including former lawmaker Nazimuddin Alam, in a case of attempt on the life of Juba League leader Akhtarul Alam, who was also a former commissioner of Char Fashion Pourasava in Bhola.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhola Julfiker Ali Khan issued the order on Thursday.
Nazimuddin Alam was also an assistant general secretary of Dhaka University Central Student Union (Ducsu).
According to the case statement, being instructed by Alam, his cadres stabbed Akhtarul Alam and cut the veins of his hands and legs at Char Fashion bus stand on January 16 in 2004.
Although a case was filed, the police submitted the final report because of political reasons.
Akhtarul Alam, however, filed another case on March 11 in 2007.
