“Chander Moto Chandro Bindu" staged in Manikganj

"Chander Moto Chandro Bindu", a play based on the memoirs of Language Movement Martyr Rafique Uddin Ahmed, was staged at Poddarbari premises under Harirampur upazila in Manikganj last Monday night.
Children's organisation Jaggeswar Shishu Bikash Kendra staged the play in observance of International Mother Language Day. Local children played different roles in the drama written by Mizan Kabir and directed by Ranjan Saha. Rafique Uddin Ahmed's home was in at Paril village of Singair Upazila in Manikganj district.
Poetry recitation and discussion were also part of the programme. Mohammad Ramzan Ali, Mayor of Manikganj Municipality, was the chief guest. Poet, researcher and writer Dr. Aminur Rahman Sultan, deputy director of Bangla Academy, was present as special guest. Shafiqul Islam Hazari Shamim, chairman of Balla Union Parishad, presided over the discussion where Habibur Rahman Sarker, head teacher of Poddarbari Government Primary School; Abul Hossain Siddiqi, head teacher of Borundi Government Primary School; Rahim Box, a veteran freedom fighter and others spoke at the discussion.
The speakers urged the audience to learn and use the Bangla language properly.
