Nazrul Institute's homage to the Bard

Nazrul Institute organised a programme marking the Rebel Poet's 38th death anniversary. The event, featuring conferment of “Nazrul Puroshkar '13”, discussion, recitation of the bard's poems and musical performances by noted and upcoming artistes, was held at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on August 27.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the occasion as chief guest while Secretary to the ministry Dr. Ranjit Kumar Biswas was special guest. DG of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan and DG of Bangladesh National Museum Faizul Latif Chowdhury discussed the life and works of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Executive director of Nazrul Institute Ikram Ahmed delivered the welcome address. Chairman of Nazrul Institute Trustee Board Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam presided over the discussion.
This year, “Nazrul Puroshkar 2013” was conferred on Khilkhil Kazi, granddaughter of our National Poet and singer-researcher Dr. Nashid Kamal for their contributions to the kindling the spirit of Nazrul. Asaduzzaman Noor, MP handed over crests, certificates and Taka 50,000 cheques to each.
A cultural programme followed where, among others, noted artistes Shaheen Samad and Salahuddin Ahmed rendered songs. Artistes of Nazrul Institute performed a choral song and elocutionists Mahidul Islam, Seema Islam and Shahadat Hossain recited Nazrul creations at the programme.
