Syed Mainul Hossain, the architect of the National Monument in Savar, passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest at the National Heart Foundation Hospital in Dhaka today.
He was 63, his cousin Iftekhar Rahman said.
The renowned architect was admitted to the hospital yesterday suffering a massive heart attack and felt better after primary treatment, said Abdullah Al Shafi Majumder, director of the hospital.
But he complained of ailment again this morning and faced a sudden cardiac arrest at 2:30pm when he was pronounced dead, the director told The Daily Star.
Later his body was taken to his Shantinagar residence in the capital.  
His cousin said the body will be kept at BIRDEM mortuary until his daughter and sister return from the USA, upon which decision of his burial will be taken.
