Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today instructed to introduce Mymensingh as a new division splitting Dhaka division in two.

The plan to introduce the eighth administrative division was rolled out at today’s cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat under her leadership.

As per premier’s instruction at the cabinet meeting, National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganisation (Nicar) will now decide the mode to do this, Cabinet secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed media after the meeting.

The prime minister also instructed to carry out a feasibility study on splitting Chittagong division and introducing Noakhali or Comilla divisions, Bhuiyan told reporters.

The cabinet members expressed deep condolences during the meeting on the death of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who died on Friday.
