Be ‘deshi’ with Deshal

For decades, Deshal has been a trendsetter when it comes to local fashion and have always a lot to offer – even beyond the festive months. They are one of those rare brands who reinvent themselves, with every new collection they put on their shelves.

The Fall 2019 collection is no different. They have a wide collection of single kameez and kurtis, featuring vivid colours, patterns and that scream, “Bohemian chic.”

While most brands have a signature style, Deshal has two, maybe more. And they are quintessentially ‘Deshal’. They are renowned for their wearable art pieces depicting pastoral motifs like owls, fishes, and Bengali alphabets.

Some pieces feature a motif made repetitive with a slightly darker shade contrasting its background. This deliberate effort is also found in their prints on white.

Most of the block prints with embroidered borders or details, accentuate the image. Tassels used fashionably, the frills give the garbs an added modish look. Fatuas are also available in various designs. Matching the current trend of loose-fitting sleeves, some of them have no designated cuts for sleeves.

And then there are the 3-piece kameezs. The ‘dhol’ salwar is voluminous; the Turkish shalwar — slightly a less baggy version. To top it off, wrap one of their batik prints, or khadi dupatta for a completely new look.

Deshal also has a line of new saris, all made of cotton, for the everyday working women. The 6-yards come in bright and popping colours, sometimes with a contrasting border at the bottom that is plain, or highlighted with simple block patterns.

Some of these feature checker prints, or round motifs running all over, or tassels dangling elegantly from the sides. For women who do not like to be draped in bright colours, off white options with colourful borders are available.

A one-stop for all, the children’s section also has new and adorable attires. Dress up your little girl with clothes that tell stories — a verse, children playing, a dragonfly, or even a ladybird. Most of the children’s garment feature one large block print of something they are familiar with — toys, snails, trees, or giraffes. Some have little embroidered flowers and frill designs. Fatuas are available with repeated motifs featuring fishbone and cactus.

The gents section has panjabis, and fatuas of subtle colours, beige or cream, and feature plain and simple patterns such as Bengali alphabets, or conventional stripes.

Deshal’s outfits are not only fashionable, but perfectly compliment the hot and humid weather of Dhaka. Most of their apparel are made of cotton and fabric that is soft, giving you utmost comfort. This is a place for all those people who wish to portray the Bangladeshi culture through their bold choice of clothing.
