Training of teachers needed
To ensure quality education in the secondary level, the government introduced the creative question system over the last few years. The system requires students to have a broad understanding of a specific topic. This was intended to reduce their dependence on memorisation and increase their critical thinking and analytical abilities.
Regrettably, the system didn't yield the intended results, as there is a shortage of trained teachers. With a few exceptions, many teachers are not even capable of preparing question papers, and instead resort to “guide books” or “question banks.”
There is little doubt that the creative question system was a laudable effort by the government. But the government should ensure proper training for teachers for the system to work effectively.
