Myanmar's MoU with UN agencies raises hope

The news that UNDP and UNHCR, two United Nation agencies, have agreed with Myanmar on a text of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) should be welcomed. The prospect that the UN agencies will be allowed to create an environment conducive to the safe repatriation of the Rohingya refugees stranded in Bangladesh raises our hope.
We hope the signing of the MoU will result in a successful repatriation, with the Rohingya nationals given equal rights in Myanmar. This should be the beginning of the end of a brutal and unfortunate chapter.
