With the onset of the rainy season, the erosion of Jamuna river has worsened, leaving people residing nearby at risk. Last year at least 12 homesteads were destroyed in one incident. Countless people have so far been displaced due to the erosion of Jamuna. The media has widely reported on the phenomenon, yet there hasn't been adequate response from the government to tackle the problem.

I would like to call on the authorities concerned to take effective steps such as building embankments and compensating the affected people.
