Khaleda's security protocol withdrawn

The government withdrew the security protocol of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia this evening, hours ahead of the opposition's Dhaka march programme on Sunday.
Additional law enforcers have been deployed at her Gulshan residence and two truckloads of sand have been brought for erecting bunkers in front of the main entrance apparently in an attempt to bar Khaleda from attending the march.
An assistant office secretary at the Gulshan office of Khaleda confirmed the protocol withdrawal while Gulshan police said about the deployment of additional forces and witnesses told The Daily Star about the bringing sand in front of Khaleda's house.
The developments came after the main opposition party expressed its vow to carry on with the programme at any cost under the leadership of the opposition leader.
Earlier in the evening, The BNP-led 18-party alliance has vowed to make its 'March for Democracy' programme successful at any cost with presence of opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
Dhaka has already been delinked from other parts of the country as buses remain off road ahead of the Dhaka march of the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance.
Khaleda, also chief of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, declared the 'March for Democracy' programme on Tuesday evening demanding parliamentary election under an non-party arrangement after cancelling the January 5 polls.
