Jatrabari arson victim dies at DMCH

A man, who was burned in a petrol bomb attack at Jatrabari on January 23, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital today.

With this, at least 38 people have been killed and around 1,000 injured since January 5, the day the BNP-led 20-party alliance announced an indefinite nationwide blockade. Of the dead, 27 were common people who had no links with politics.

Nur-e Alam, 60, who suffered 48 percent burn injuries, succumbed at the intensive care unit of the burn unit around 1:00pm, DMCH sources said.

Alam was among the 28 victims who suffered burns as two petrol bombs thrown by suspected blockaders exploded inside a bus at the capital's Jatrabari on the night of January 23.

Most of the passengers got their faces and necks burnt and suffered inhalation injuries.

A day after the arson attack, police announced Tk 5 lakh reward for information that will help to arrest the Jatrabari arsonists.
