Toma Mirza

Toma Mirza isn't a very old name in the film industry yet, but despite that, she has managed to carve out quite a name for herself. She has been out of the spotlight for a while, but now she is back and very busy with her cinema career. She should also be commended for the fact that despite being a successful actress, she is also maintaining her studies. What was the first film you worked in?
The first film I worked in was “Bolo Na Tumi Amar”. It was directed by M.B. Manik and it was released in 2010.

So far, how many films have you acted in?
To date, I have acted in 20 films. Out of that 20, 11 has been released to the public so far. The others are still on the process of being released. Apart from these, I am also in discussion to act in some more films, so let's see what happens.

Are you currently working on any films?
I am currently shooting for the film “Girlfriend vs. Boyfriend”, directed by Fazlul Islam. The character I portrayed here was very amusing and I enjoyed it a lot. We have already done about fifty percent of the shooting, the rest is to be shot in Thailand. Other than this, i am also currently working on another film called “Prem Er Odhikar”, directed by Mostafizur Rahman Babu. This is a story about family and I am acting alongside Ovi. I am also about to start shooting for the film “Mission America”. The film is directed by Ashiqur Rahman. Hopefully, shooting will start by end of February and shooting will take place exclusively in America.

How did you get involved with the film industry?
Honestly, joining the film industry was quite a sudden and unplanned event. As soon as i passed my H.S.C, i moved to Dhaka. Right after moving here, i got an offer to act in a movie and that's how it all began i guess.

Do you only want to work in films?
No. I don't want to be limited to just cinemas. I want to act in every medium. I already worked in TV dramas although, admittedly, not that many. One of these was “Otithee”, where I acted alongside Mosharraf Karim. I also acted in a drama directed by actor Raj Razzak, where i acted alongside Shomrat. I also have an interest in acting in theater.

What are your plans regarding acting?
I want to be a good actress. I only want to act in films that will stay with the audience for a long time. I want to act with all my devotion and attention and I want to win the hearts of the audience. That is my true goal.

Any resolutions for the New Year?
The New Year always starts with so many plans. Well I want to complete my Honors. The remaining time that I have, I want to devote to cinema. I want to give good cinema a big priority. Other than these, I don't have any other specials plans or wishes. I'll try to take things slow, one at a time.

David Saltzberg is the go to man for science fact-checking in Hollywood. He has a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago, while he conducted his post-doctorate at CERN in Switzerland. What's more, he's currently a professor of physics at UCLA. This makes him ideal to make sure all of the science-y dialogue and props are in order in The Big Bang Theory. Because, you know if there's a mistake, he's going to be flooded with emails from irate, eagle-eyed science enthusiasts.
