A construction worker died yesterday in Baliadangi upazila when a large chunk of earth fell on three workers while they were digging the ground for building a box-culvert on Kalmegh-Dogachi road.

The deceased was Aminul Islam, 40, of Thakurgaon municipality. 

Witnesses said a large chunk of earth collapsed on Aminul, Rashida Khatun, 45, and her husband Abdul, 50, of Sangaon village, leaving them injured when five workers were digging the ground.  

Fire-fighters took them to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex.

As their condition was critical, they were referred to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

Aminul succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Rashida was later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
