A woman was killed allegedly by her dowry-greedy husband in Jashore Sadar upazila on Monday.

The deceased was Rabeya Khatun, 22, daughter of Delwar Hossain of Jhumjhumpur Uttarpara in the upazila.

Family sources said Rabeya married easy-bike driver Ikbal Hossain of Satiantola Ghop village five years ago. After the marriage, Ikbal and his family members often tortured Rabeya for Tk one lakh as dowry.

On Monday night, Iqbal strangled Rabeya following an altercation over the issue and fled the scene, said the victim's brother Habibur Rahman.
