Too brutal, too aghast
Criminals poured stool on the head of a madrasa superintendent at Kathalia village in the district's Bakerganj upazila on Friday, allegedly following a rivalry centring the institution's managing committee election.
The perpetrators also spread video of the horrifying incident on Facebook.
Victim Md Abu Hanif, 60, filed a case with Bakerganj Police Station on Sunday night, accusing six people including his brother Zakir Hossain and Zahangir Khondokar, the prime rival, and police arrested three.
“I founded Kathalia Islamia Darus Sunnat Dakhil Madrasa in 1981. I also bought a piece of land to establish an orphanage adjacent to it in 2009. But some people including Zahangir Khondokar opposed it and filed a case in 2014,” Abu Hanif, also imam of the adjacent mosque, said in his complaint.
“In last February, Zahangir was defeated by HM Mojibur in the madrasa committee election. I had supported Mojibur. As a sequel, Zahangir and 7 to 8 others waylaid me on my way to home and poured human stool on my head on Friday morning. I want justice,” he said.
Investigation found the incident true and we arrested three of the accused -- Bellal, 20, Minju, 22, and Md Miraj Hossain Sohag, 20, said Abdul Haque, inspector of Bakerganj Police Station.
“None involved in the heinous crime will be spared,” Superintendent of Police Md Saiful Islam said at a press briefing yesterday.
