A schoolboy in the district was killed in roof collapse.

The victim was Shahidul Fakir, 11, son of Ujjal Fakir of Lohartak village in Sadarpur upazila. He was a Class V student at Lohartak Government Primary School.

Family members said Shahidul along with some classmates was playing at an abandoned hall room of Zila Parishad near the school on Saturday afternoon.

At the time, the roof of the hall room collapsed, leaving Shahidul and one of his classmates injured, said his cousin Ripon Fakir.

They were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Of them, Sahidul was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition worsened. But, no room was available at Coronary Care Unit in DMCH.

Later, he was brought to Islami Bank Community Hospital in the capital yesterday, where on duty doctors declared him dead, said Ripon.
