An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight with his rivals in Jessore's Monirampur upazila early yesterday, claimed police.

The deceased was Muktar Hossain, 48, son of Habibur Rahman of Ratondia village in the upazila.

Muktar was wanted in ten cases including those for murder and robbery.

Mokarram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, said being informed that two robber gangs were exchanging bullets at Hanua field, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the bullet-hit body.

The body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.

A case was filed in this connection.
