Speakers at a rally yesterday urged the law enforcement agencies to take steps to recover illegal firearms from Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).

Rangamati Socheton Nagorik Somaj organised the rally in the town.

They also demanded arrest of criminals to hold peaceful situation here.

Local lawmaker Firoza Begum Chinu and Rangamati chamber President Belayet Hossain also spoke at the rally with former state minister for CHT affairs Dipankar Talukder in the chairman.

Dipankar said the law enforcers should conduct drive against criminals as they are using firearms in CHT.   

Later, they submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through the deputy commissioner to realise the demand.
