Indigenous students at a human chain in the district town yesterday demanded punishment of the perpetrators involved in raping a Marma girl and molesting her younger sister in Rangamati on January 22.

The two girls, aged 18 and 13 years, became victims of the brutalities during a joint raid by the security forces at Orachhari village in Bilaichhari upazila of Rangamati around midnight on January 22, speakers said at the programme.

The two sisters were admitted to Rangamati Sadar Hospital the next day but no case has been filed yet over the matter as the victims' family members are facing threat, the speakers said, adding that the younger sister said she had seen men in uniform.

The perpetrators, whoever they may be, must be brought to book to prevent recurrence of such incidents, they said.
