Depriving the students of sports and recreational facilities, the headmaster of Abdul Hakim High School in Rangabali upazila has been using its playground for grass farming for several years.

As the school ground hosts many yearly sporting events participated by students of different schools in the upazila, many teachers from the other schools complained that every year they had to face serious difficulties during the annual sports function as long grasses covered the field.

Locals alleged that one Risat Hawlader of Tungipara village bring the grass from the headmaster for Tk 15,000 every year and sell those to cattle farmers.

School managing committee members Babul Hawlader and Jewel Farajee said although they have asked the headmaster to clean the grassy field but he did not pay heed to their appeal. They also verbally informed the upazila education officer of the matter, Babul added.

Rangabali Upazila Education Officer Mokhlesur Rahman said he had already asked the chairman of the school managing committee to take step in this regard.

Abul Hasnat Abdullah, chairman of the school managing committee, said the committee will take necessary steps after discussing the issue at their next meeting.

Headmaster Mahtab Hawlader denied the allegation brought against him and said some local people are spreading the false allegation against him.
