Pledge against militancy
Hundreds of students in the town yesterday pledged not to get involved in social menaces like drug addiction, early marriage, militancy, sexual harassment and question paper leak.
They also showed red cards to such destructive activities at a programme organised by Lal Sabuj Unnayan Sangha, a voluntary organisation, on Harimohan Government High School premises where students of the institution took part.
Chapainawabganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mahmudul Hasan was the chief guest and Superintendent of Police TM Mujahidul Islam was present as special guest.
Kawsar Alam Sohel, president of Lal Sabuj Unnayan Sangha central committee, said the first phase of the programme started from Panchagarh's Tentulia upazila on March 7 to create awareness among the students about the social menaces.
The speakers at the programme also urged them to respect the senior citizens of the society.
