Two people were killed as a severe nor'wester hit Nabinagar upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased were Ali Akbar, 72, of Borikandi village and Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, 40, son of Abu Shama of Lohori village in Nabinagar upazila.

Police said when Ali was returning to his house from a nearby water body, a tree fell on him during the storm. He died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Mohiuddin was returning home from Narsingdi by a speedboat. It was hit by another speedboat from the opposite direction during the storm in the river Meghna.

As a result, he drowned.
