Students and their guardians yesterday demanded transfer of all teachers of the government high schools who already completed their three-year tenure.

They at a press conference  at Tangail Press Club also demanded an end to coaching business and private tuition of the teachers. 

The demanded appointment of  female headmasters at the girls' schools and eighty percent female teachers.

The school authorities are forcing the students to take paid coaching at their institutions while the teachers want them to take private tuition, they alleged.  

Although a number of teachers were transferred after completion of their three-year tenure, they managed to return to that institution with the help of some local influential political leaders, they added.

One of the school headmasters, who had been at the same institution for the last 16 years, was transferred recently, but he returned immediately with the help of political leaders, they alleged.

Tangail Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khan Mohammad Nurul Amin blamed political influence for keeping the teachers at their home district, which makes them reckless.

On Monday, a mobile court sentenced Saidur Rahman, a teacher of Bindubasini Government Girls' High School in the town, to imprisonment for one year for stalking a Class IX student of the institution.

Angry students and their guardians gave him a good beating and demanded immediate removal of Headmaster Mamun Talukder for not taking any steps against Saidur despite getting complaints on several occasions.

Meanwhile, the DC formed a three-member probe body yesterday to investigate the incidents and asked the committee to submit its report within three working days.
