A court here yesterday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and fined him Tk 2 lakh for raping his 16-year-old daughter in 2015.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Hasanuzzaman delivered the verdict in presence of the convict.

The convict is Md Kamruzzaman, 45, son of Bayet Ali of Natabaria village in Baraigram upazila of the district.

According to the prosecution, Kamruzzaman took his daughter on his motorbike to Sutipara village in Baraigram upazila and raped her on January 22 in 2015. They returned home at 8:00pm.

Kamruzzaman threatened his daughter that he would kill her if she disclosed the matter. But the girl told her mother, who informed the local government representatives about the matter. They handed Kamruzzaman over to the police the same night.

Md Kamruzzaman was a member of security forces.

The daughter filed a case with Baraigram Police Station and police submitted the charge sheet to the court.
