Mamata condemns Dhaka attack

In wake of the deadly terror attack in Dhaka, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today expressed her strong condemnation and called for all parties to get united and to play a constructive role in tackling terrorism.
"We strongly condemn the terror attack in Bangladesh. We share their pain and agony and stand beside Bangladesh. Instead of indulging in blame game, we must look at playing a constructive role in tackling terrorism," Banerjee said in the state Assembly today.
"The act of terror in Bangladesh is really sorrowful. We will have to discharge our responsibility without blaming Bangladesh," she said.
Banerjee also called upon everybody not to search politics behind the scene of the attack but to go for a unity to eliminate the militancy.
"We will have to work together against the militancy," she said.
Twenty hostages, mostly foreign nationals, were killed when a group of militants stormed in with guns and swords in the Gulshan's Holey Artisan Bakery on July 1.
After a nearly 12-hour long siege, the hostage crisis ended with a death toll of 28. Apart from the casualties of two police officers, law enforcers said six militants were killed.
Bangladesh is observing a two-day national mourning over the incident.
