Ruhul Alam Siddique appointed as deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi

The government today appointed Portugal Ambassador Imtiaz Ahmed as Ambassador to Germany while appointed Germany Ambassador Muhammad Ali Sorcar as the ambassador to Egypt.

According to separate three press releases, the government today brought important changes at ambassadorial level in three Bangladesh missions in Germany, Portugal and Egypt through transfer and fresh appointments.

The government further decided to appoint Md Ruhul Alam Siddique, currently working as director general (East Asia and Pacific Wing) in the foreign ministry, as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to the Portuguese Republic, said another press release.

A career diplomat, Imtiaz Ahmed belongs to the 1984 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre. In his diplomatic career, besides his ambassadorial appointments in Sweden, Nepal, Bhutan and Portugal he also served in Bangladesh Embassies in Rome, Cairo, Washington DC and Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur in various capacities.

Muhammad Ali Sorcar, who belongs to the 1986 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre, in his ambassadorial assignments in the Netherlands and Germany, he also served as deputy permanent representative of Bangladesh to UN in New York and Bangladesh embassy in Brussels. He is a specialist in the multilateral arena of diplomacy, especially on UN System.

Ruhul Alam Siddique, who belongs to 11th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs), in his career served as minister in the Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi before his assignment as the deputy high commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi.

He also served in Bangladesh embassy in Berlin and Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore in different capacities. Earlier he served in the ministry in different capacities in Europe, Americas and Pacific, UN, South Asia and Administration wings.
