Govt to set up 2 new universities

Government will set up two new universities in Jamalpur and Netrokona after the names of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Sheikh Hasina respectively.
The cabinet approved a draft law in this regard at a weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Secretariat today.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters about the two new universities at a press conference after the meeting.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University will be set up at Melandah upazila in Jamalpur after acquiring a fisheries college while Sheikh Hasina University will be a new one, quoting Shafiul Alam reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
At present, there are a total of 38 public universities in the country and the number will stand at 40 with the new two, the Bangla daily said.
