Fish production has increased in the Kaptai Lake and the fish from the lake are being exported to Europe and the Middle East countries.

Bangladesh Fisheries and Development Corporation (BFDC) Managerin Rangamati,  Muhammad Asaduzzaman Khan said this on Tuesday at a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office to celebrate Bangladesh's becoming eligible to graduate to a developing country.

The district administration organised the event supported by the district information office.

Asaduzzaman said fish production in the Kaptai Lake has increased a lot compared to the last year. It was 6,498 tonnes last year while it now stands at 6,900 tonnes, he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ICT and Education) Sharmin Akter, Civil Surgeon Shahid Talukder and Additional Superintendent of Police Muhammad Jahangir Hossain spoke at the meeting.

Rangamati Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Shafi Kamal presided over.
