A female sub-inspector (SI) has been closed to Moulvibazar Police Lines on charge of vandalising the house of the vice chairman of Rajnagar Upazila Parisahd under the district.

The accused is Nazma Begum of Rajnagar Police Station.  

On Thursday afternoon, Najma went to the house of Rajnagar Upazila Parishad's Vice Chairman Faruq Ahmed. At that time there was nobody except caretaker Nayan Mia.

“SI Najma talked to me rudely, saying that the vice chairman does not receive her phone calls. At one stage, she started vandalising the household articles,” said the caretaker.

Later, Rajnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shyamal Banik informed Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Shahjalal of the matter and the SP closed Najma to the police lines on Sunday night, said the OC.

“The SI has been closed for her unwanted behaviour,” he added.

Contacted, Najma said, “I went to the area to investigate a case. I went to the vice chairman's house for a visit.”

She, however, declined to make any reply to questions regarding her alleged vandalism at the upazila vice chairman's house.

This correspondent made several phone calls to Vice Chairman Faruq Ahmed for his version on the incident but his mobile was found off.

Moulvibazar SP Shahjalal said the matter is under investigation.
