A court here on Monday sentenced a drug peddler to 12 years' imprisonment.

The convict is Kalam Sardar, 35, son of late Ensan Sardar of Zia Sharok of Barisal city.

District and Sessions Judge Md Ikhtiarul Islam Mallick also fined Kalam Tk 5,000. In default, he is to suffer another three months in prison.

According to the prosecution, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Kalam with 507 Yabba tablets in Nalchity upazila in 2016.

Later, a case was filed, accusing Kalam with Nalchity Police Station.
