A court here yesterday granted five-day remand against prime accused Mustakim Rahman, a local Jubo League leader, in connection with the case for causing serious stab injuries to Shahjahan Kabir, 37, assistant director of Bogra regional passport office.

Police arrested Mustakim, office secretary of the town Jubo League, and also a councillor of Bogra municipality, and his four associates from Dinajpur on Friday, said Md Abul Kalam Azad investigation officer of the case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Abu Rayhan gave the order when police produced Mustakim before the court seeking 10-day remand.

Mustakim is also accused in four other cases, including one for murder, said police.
