A Netrakona court on Tuesday sentenced four people to death for killing a microbus driver in 2013.

The convicts, Hasan Ali, 32, and Abdul Malek, 30, of Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj, Mohammad Munna, 31, of Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona, and Selim Sarker, 29, of Gazipur's Sreepur upazila, were tried in absentia, Court Inspector Ziaul Haque said.

Netrakona District and Sessions Judge KM Rasheduzzaman Raza pronounced the verdict and fined the convicts Tk 20,000 each.

The court also acquitted Munna's wife Sabina Yeasmin, 28, as charges brought against her could not be proved.

According to the prosecution, the convicts hired a microbus from Nagra Microbus Stand in Netrakona town to go to Gazipur on January 16 in 2013.

Later on the same night, the convicts killed Solaiman and dumped the body in Hotapara area in Gazipur and took away his microbus.
