Three persons were sentenced to nine months imprisonment for illegally selling turtles and meat of the endangered species at Shakhari Bazar in old Dhaka this morning.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 80 turtles both alive and dead weighing around six mounds from the convicts’ possession in the bazaar, the Rab’s Executive Magistrate Md Sarwoer Alam told The Daily Star.

The three are: Panir Chandra Das, Dipak Nandi and Moina Rani Sarker.
