A Song of Summer

With the rise of mercury, the city dwellers prepare to greet the summer amid frequent load shedding and sweltering heat. Roadside beverages and cold water at road intersections are at peak of sale. Many take refuge in parks. Jumping into the cool water of the river is a common way to stave off the heat. In the evenings sudden arrival of Kal Baishakhi gives the city a much-awaited relief. But heat is not the only thing that summer brings. The vibrant red of the flamboyant Krishnachura is something the summer cannot arrive without. Delicious fruits like mangoes and melons are the other gift of the season.
