A youth died yesterday afternoon in the capital, hours after a mob suspecting him a mugger beat him in the capital's Ramna area, police claimed.

The deceased is Md Mongol, 25.

Ihsanul Ferdaus, assistant commissioner (Ramna Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said police rescued him around 9:00am from Chairmangoli area, after people beat him on allegation of mugging.

Police took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, after which he was taken to Ramna Police Station around 2:00pm. As his condition deteriorated, police rushed him to DMCH again where he was declared dead around 5:50pm, Ferdaus claimed.
