A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a woman to death for killing her husband Md Mohsin, a former member of the army, over extra marital affairs in the city's Pallabi area.

Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar of the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 pronounced the verdict in absence of the convict Saleha Khatun Sheuly.

The judge said the punishment of the convict will be effective from the day of her arrest or surrender.

On October 26 of 2012, Saleha along with five to seven people killed her husband after he protested her “extramarital affairs”.

Later, the deceased's brother Maznu Mia filed a murder case with Pallabi Police Station.

Saleha Khatun was arrested after the incident and later went into hiding after getting bail from the court.

During the investigation, Saleha Khatun gave a confessional statement before a magistrate where she said she killed her husband with the help of some miscreants after he found out about her affairs.     

According to the prosecution, Mohsin used to live in the city's Pallabi area with his wife and two sons.

The couple used to fight often over her relations with other men.
