USAID administrator due tomorrow
USAID Administrator Mark Green will travel to Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand from May 13 to May 23.
He will be accompanied by Gloria Steele, USAID senior deputy assistant administrator for Asia; and Ambassador Mark Storella, deputy assistant secretary of state for population, refugees, and migration.
Green, in his first leg of the three-nation visit, will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow afternoon and visit Cox's Bazar on Tuesday.
During the visit, he will hold discussions with government officials and stakeholders on various issues, including the ongoing Rohingya crisis and implementation of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
Administrator Green also plans to visit several sites where the US government is providing humanitarian assistance to the displaced Rohingyas and affected host communities, according to a US embassy press release.
He is due to depart for Myanmar on May 17.
In Myanmar, the administrator will meet civil-society representatives, students, and youth leaders, as well as government officials to discuss steps needed to address the crises in Rakhine State and violence in other areas of the country.
