Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal yesterday told parliament that all districts in the country would be brought under railway connectivity.

He made the remark while replying to a supplementary question from a ruling party lawmaker in the House.

The minister said the rail connectivity would be set up in phases as it is now a demand of the people. Besides, existing district level rail lines will also be renovated, he added.     

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, replying to a lawmaker's query, said a total of 52,333 police personnel and 23,523 members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were recruited in the last six years.

Replying to another lawmaker's query, he said the government has taken a project to construct 18 "residence towers" across the county for police personnel. In the first phase, the towers will be built in Dhaka, Chittagong, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Sylhet and Comilla, he said. Barracks are also being constructed in all districts to mitigate the accommodation crisis of the police force, added the home boss.
