Police arrested three people with firearms and bullets in Pahartali area of Chittagong early yesterday in connection with the killing of an egg wholesaler on April 5.

The arrestees are: Md Mansur Ahmed alias Mansur Ali, 38, his wife Kohinur Bagum, 27, and Md Belal Hossen, 27, said police.

Md Masud Rana, 35, manager of Rana Enterprise, a wholesale egg store, was hacked to death inside his workplace. The miscreants failed to loot the cash box and made away with two mobile phone sets.

Mansur, the gang leader, is accused in 15 different cases, said police who recovered two local guns and seven cartridges from his house.

Earlier on April 21, police arrested their accomplice Helal who later gave a confessional statement.

The gang first collected information about businessmen in Pahartali Bazar and later robbed them, especially when they moved with cash, said Assistant Commissioner (Double Mooring Zone) Asikur Rahman.
