Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 806 saris, 341 sets of salwar kameez, and some 6,000kg of banned polythene bags, all of which were smuggled from India, in Mawa Ferry Ghat area of Munshiganj yesterday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team conducted a drive in the area and recovered the smuggled goods worth altogether Tk 46.70 lakh, said officials at Pagla Coast Guard Station in Narayanganj.

The clothes were handed over to customs officials in the capital's Gulisthan while the polythene bags were destroyed.
