The annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for 14 executive posts including president and general secretary will be held on March 21 and 22.

SCBA Secretary Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon confirmed the matter to the The Daily Star, and said official schedule for polls will be made on March 1.

Around 6,000 lawyers will cast votes in the upcoming elections, SCBA sources said.

The main contest will take place between ruling Awami League-backed Bangladesh Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad (BSASP) and BNP-backed Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad (BJAOP).

None of the lawyer bodies has yet to finalise their candidates for the election.
