Railway gears up for Eid

Bangladesh Railway will add 171 more coaches to the existing 1,161, said Railways Minister Mazibul Hoque yesterday.
Also, it will operate seven pairs of special trains from June 23 to 25 and June 28 to July 3 on different routes. In addition, all weekly holiday for the intercity trains has been cancelled from June 21 to Eid day, he added.
The minister was briefing media at the Railway Bhaban in the capital about his ministry's preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure a hassle-free journey for holidaymakers, says a press release.
Advance tickets will be sold at Dhaka and Chittagong stations from 8:00am on June 12. A passenger will be able to purchase highest four tickets. Maitree train service will remain closed for June 25 and 26.
Return tickets for Dhaka will be sold at Rajshahi, Khulna, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations from 8:00am.
