Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday released a commemorative postage stamp, a first-day cover and a data card marking the 47th Independence and National Day.

She released the stamp and the first-day cover of Tk 10 and the data card of Tk 5 at her official residence Gono Bhaban yesterday afternoon.

A special canceller was used on the occasion.

Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Shyam Sundar Sikdar and Director General of Bangladesh Post Office Sushanta Kumar Mandal were present on the occasion, among others.

The stamp, first-day cover and data card were sold from Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO yesterday and those will be available at other GPOs and head post offices across the country later.

There is also an arrangement for special canceller in four GPOs to be used for the first-day cover.
