Over 1.2 lakh out of 1.57 police personnel will be on duty to ensure security and safety during the vacation for Eid-ul-Fitr, according to a spokesman of the police headquarters.

Besides the police personnel, the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) will also be on duty at the key installations and major areas across the country, a RAB spokesman told BSS.

Following the terrorist attack at Holey Artisan Bakery restaurant in the city's Gulshan , the law enforcers have taken the security issue very seriously, he said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque said the security measures have been tightened further in all important venues.
