A nor'wester with rain and thunderstorm lashed capital yesterday, disrupting normalcy. The seasonal storm hit around 6:00pm.

A number of trees were uprooted by the storm on Manik Mia Avenue, including two large ones in front of Sangsad Bhaban. The road also went under water due to rain. Many tree branches fell on moving vehicles, witnesses said. Trees were also uprooted in at least 15 points including Dhanmondi, Mohakhali, Gono Bhabhan and PMO, blocking many roads and disrupting traffic, said Mizanur Rahman, inspector of fire service. No casualty was reported.

Met office recorded 12-millimeter rainfall till 6:00pm in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, five people, including four farmers were killed in separate lightning strikes in Habiganj and Kishoreganj, reports UNB.
